I was meant to go back and finish of my study and write up of the Lord’s Prayer, focusing on God our father, but I feel I need to linger on that some more as there’s so much I’m still learning.
Also I’ve been struggling to write for a few weeks. Avoidant even. It has felt like a chore, which isn’t how I believe the things of God should be. There should be freedom and an ease because His yoke is easy and burden light (Matthew 11:30) and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17).
Having reflected a little, I’ve realised that I tried to venture into preaching. I tried to define and restrict what I was writing about to specific topics, a specific style and methodology, instead of simply working with the Holy Spirit to share what God had placed on my heart. It felt inauthentic. I was self-reliant.
So, I’m going to try and get back to what the intention of this blog originally was, which is to share how God has been moving through my life, what He’s been doing and what He’s been teaching and showing me along the way. It’s a way of journaling and chronicling my walk with the Lord, which may bless other readers.
I want to be open to and move with the Holy Spirit’s leading in writing what He would have me to write. The Holy Spirit moves without our constraint – He has free will and moves in ways we do not fully understand. We do not originate or control Him. Yet, like the wind He is always moving and blowing and, as the vicar aptly stated during a sermon I attended on Pentecost Sunday, it’s up to us to put up our sails, catch the wind and follow.
Jesus said: “the wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit”. John 3:8
So, I’m going to write as I feel led, on the topics that come into my heart from time to time. Not in a structured and measured way, and not in any particular series, unless I feel led to, and I pray that it blesses you as it blesses me, in Jesus’ name. 🙏
