“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faithproduces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:2-5 (AMP)
So God is really good, literally all the time. Even in our foolishness, when we call on him, he hears and guides us: see example below.
I’ve had car trouble for a few weeks — my car was shaking, jittery and almost cut out while driving. My trusted garage that recently serviced it found that the engine was misfiring, but couldn’t fix it and told me to go to the main dealer to get it sorted.
I tried to sell it, but that didn’t work out. So I had no option but to book a horribly expensive diagnostic appointment at the main dealership in the next town along as there were no appointments available in my local branch for a few weeks.
After driving for nearly an hour on quiet back roads – a journey that would usually take me 20 minutes using the motorway – I arrived at the dealership… only to be told that they’d never received my booking! They were also too busy and short-staffed to look at the car.
I was so upset and stuck, with no idea how I was going to get the car home safely. I tried to contact other branches of the dealership, but they either had no availability, or their computers were down.
So I prayed and asked God what to do. Then I remembered that my local branch of the dealership had previously suggested that I use my breakdown cover when they couldn’t fit me in for an appointment, but my car was still running and hadn’t fully broken down, so at the time I thought they were just trying to palm me off!
But after praying, I felt prompted to try anyway, so I called my breakdown cover provider and the most helpful, knowledgeable and friendly mechanic came out and diagnosed the problem free of charge. He went over and above to find the parts I needed and fixed the car right there at the roadside — literally in front of the main dealership. I only had to pay for the parts, so the total repair cost me half (or even less) of what the main dealer would have charged!
So what initially felt like a massive disappointment and frustrating roadblock (pun intended) turned out to be a redirection towards a better solution and a huge blessing . My car is fixed, but I also learnt a lesson about the importance of being open and humble enough to consider alternative options that are presented to me, even if they dont immediately make sense to me – especially when praying for answers, guidance or solutions. God always answers our prayers, but the answers don’t always come in the form we expect. 😀
Really thanking my Lord for his favour, provision and guidance. So grateful.🙏
And if He can do it for me, He can do it for you too!
“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]” James 1-17 (AMP)
All glory to God 🙏
